heliotrope

public art

‘Heliotrope’ is from the Greek, meaning ‘sun turn.’ The rotation of a plant as the sun moves across the sky is the phenomenon of heliotropism. The work studies the structural and formal consequences of this action upon a simple array of vertical elements, transforming them a plant-like geometric form of a ruled surface hyperboloid.

Heliotrope is an Eco-Art on 8th Street Project, funded by Capital City Development Corporation and the City of Boise Department of Arts and History.
