mulnick residence
remodel / redesign
—
Located in the foothills of Boise, Idaho, two additions blur landscape and architectural strategies. A library and kitchen additions harmonize with the form and colors of the surrounding landscape. Stone removed from the existing house is pushed outward, cladding new garden and patio retaining walls. The existing roof structure is allowed to pierce the new volume, initiating and attenuating the thresholds of old and new, inside and outside. Materials include gun-blued steel, maple, concrete, stone, and glass.
